He said that the language used in some of the
print media was unfair. He however commended some sections of
the media that he said had been fair in their coverage of the
by-election.
He said that coverage of the community radio was generally objective
and brought out much needed information to the electorate in
the rural communities. However, Mwale said that the public media
still presented news in a biased manner with the ruling party
receiving priority in news coverage.
Background
The just ended presidential elections were tightly contested
and the government funded state owned media and the main private
media were seriously polarized. This has caused a general outcry
from the public, government and opposition political parties.
