MISA NAMIBIA APPLAUDS NBC

The Namibian Chapter of the Media Institute of Southern Africa, MISA Namibia applauds the Namibian Broadcasting Corporation, NBC, following the call during the programme “Chat Show” on Monday, 10 August 2008 when NBC presenters announced that it will blacklist callers, and the subsequent retraction on Tuesday, 12 August 2008 that these was not the case as announced.

It is apt to indicate that the drafting of this Bill was preceded by a consultative MISA Namibia applauds the NBC Management for upholding the Constitutional right to provide citizens with a platform to exercise their freedom of expression.

MISA Namibia National Director Mathew Haikali said: “As MISA Namibia, we further applaud the NBC for upholding their objectives which are to inform and entertain the public of Namibia, to contribute to the education and unity of the nation and peace in Namibia, as well as to provide and disseminate information relevant to the socio-economic development of Namibia.”

In conclusion, Haikali called on the NBC management to continue to serve and uphold their cause just as their slogan “No Better Companion”.
